What to wear to a haldi ceremony as a guest?
Yellow is the default, but any bright colour you can wash works: mustard, marigold, lime, peach. Choose cotton or mulmul over silk, because haldi paste stains and the ceremony is usually outdoors in daylight. Women do well in a cotton kurta set, a light anarkali or a printed saree; men in a yellow or white cotton kurta with churidar or straight pants. Skip anything dry-clean-only or precious, and wear flat sandals or kolhapuris rather than heels on a lawn.
